Juicy Madness

Deanna K

I wanted to know what juices the monarchs perferred.  I thought the monarchs would like the sugar water better than the apple and cherry juice.  I soaked cotton balls in the juice and then placed them in the cage.  I learned that you have to be there the whole day to see them land on the juice.  I would change the juices every day next time. I would also take them out  of the cage at night and when I'm not home.

Love dat Juice

Megan G

I wanted to find out if male and female monarchs liked apple juice better than honey water.  I thought that they would like apple juice better than the honey water.  All my caterpillars died so I didn't get any chrysalids.  Then I got 5 butterflies, 3 females and 2 males.  I learned that they did like apple juice better.  Next time I would take the juice out of the cage at night.

Raised on Radio

Lauren L

I wanted to find out if music helps caterpillars grow.  I thought Classical music would work better.  I put them in different boxes in different rooms.  Then I turned on the radios in the rooms.  I used Classical, Rock, and Country music.  I also had one box where I did not play any music.  I learned that music in general helps caterpillars grow.  If I could do it again I would get non-diseased caterpillars so they would live longer and my result might be better.
