Does the different type of juice affect the monarchs’ weight? The sugars that are found in juice such as Gatorade, Hi-C, Kool-Aid, and Capri Sun are similar to the sugars that a monarch butterfly drinks in nectar. In our experiment we were testing which juice was best to use for Monarchs’ in captivity.

We are unsure why our results turned out the way they did. While, we expected the butterflies that drank the juice with the highest sugar content will gain the most weight, that was not the case. We expect that there were extraneous variables above sugar content alone. Next time, we would do it early in the year so it isn’t so hot. And we would probably keep them in a controlled environment.
