Are The Females Wing Larger Than The Males Wings?
I wanted to know if the females' wings were larger than the males'. I used the data sheets and recorded wing size of the left and right wings. I found the average wing size for each sex. I found the females' wings were both larger and smaller than the males' wings. I would like to have data from other years to compare with this year's data. I learned how to tell male monarchs from female monarchs. I learned that their bright colors signal poison to their enemies.
Are There More Male Monarchs Or Female Monarchs?
I wanted to know if there were more male or female monarchs. I took the information from data sheets we kept in the classroom. I don't think anyone really knows if there are more males or females. My results were that there were 75 females and 63 males. I think I could do a better job with my graphs. I am not sure if they were completely accurate. I learned where the monarchs migrate, what influence we have on that migration, and what some things are that we can do to help in Mexico.
Are There More Male Or Female Monarchs?
In my experiment, I wanted to find out whether there were more male or female monarchs. I collected data and used class data in order to see if there were more males or females. With the data I found that there were more females than males. I think that there may be more females to help the species survive. It is possible that there were some errors in the data collection. I didn't record it all myself. I learned how to tell male from female monarchs. I also learned about recording data and making graphs.
Do Monarchs Eat Any Other Food Than Milkweed?
I wanted to find out if adult monarchs would eat other food than milkweed. I brought food to school to see if the monarch butterflies would eat it. The purpose of the experiment was to see what they would eat. The results were that the monarchs really liked many kinds of food. They ate Kool-Aid and other sweet drinks and liked fruits. I learned that adult monarchs liked many kinds of food. I learned they like the sweet foods the best. If I could do something differently I would control how often the monarchs had food and observe each one for a longer time.
How Many Male And Female Butterflies Came Out Of Their Chrysalis Each Day?
I wanted to find out if there was a pattern to when males and females came out of the chrysalis. I would like to have had data from all of the monarchs. Some monarchs emerged on the weekend and we didn't know which ones they were. We found that this year, there were more females emerging on most days than males.
What Do Monarchs Prefer To Eat?
I tested to see which food the adult monarchs liked the best. I conducted my experiment by putting food in the cage with the monarchs and measuring how long they had their proboscis down on the food. I was very interested to learn more about what they eat. I was very surprised to find out that the monarchs liked Kool-Aid the best. They also liked apples, oranges, bananas, flowers, and sugar water. If I do this again, I would like to have more time to observe the monarchs. I learned that monarchs eat a variety of things and that they will eat almost anything, or at least try it. I found out that monarchs like food with lots of sugar best.
Whose Wings Are Bigger, Males Or Females?
In my experiment I measured the wing size of the males and females we raised in our classroom. I added the measurements together to get the total length. Then, I divided by the number of butterflies. I did this to find out which sex was larger. After I compared the lengths, the males were larger. They were larger by a small amount. I think the data was accurate. I learned that the males were slightly larger and that the difference between the sexes was small.
