Chirping in the Cold?

Chloe B

This fall we observed crickets in our terrariums.  We noticed that we didn't hear them chirp during our observations.  We wondered if maybe they just weren't chirping crickets.  We also wondered if it was because of the temperature. To test our question we set up three bins with crickets in them and placed them in a warm environment, room temperature environment, or cold environment.

The Moisture Effect

Sarah J, Adnan B, Amran M

This fall we observed crickets in our eco-columns.  We noticed that the crickets looked like they were trying to go into the soil in the eco-column.  This observation made us wonder if the amount of moisture would affect the number of chirps the crickets made per minute.  To test our question we set up three bins of crickets with different amounts of moisture in each.
